Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust

The Trusts Infection Prevention and Control policies identify that all commodes must be kept in working order and clean. This is audited at regular intervals by the Infection Control Link Professionals; however, the Infection Prevention and Control Team invited Roma Medical to undertake a more in-depth annual audit. Roma Medical visited most in patient areas during August and September 2012 at both of the hospital campuses.

The audit was completed and the auditor from Roma Medical assisted by answering any questions staff had regarding the commodes at the time of the audit. They reported back immediately any concerns that were found to the Infection Prevention and Control Team. The audit has helped the Trust identify any issues with regard to both cleanliness and state of repair of the commodes and provided assurances to the Trust that staff are appropriately dismantling and cleaning a commode. Following the results of the audit the Trust has implemented a plan of action to replace any malfunctioning commodes or parts identified to minimise the risk of cross infection and continue to promote the appropriate methods of cleaning commodes.

Roma Medical has already planned their next audit to the Trust again in September 2013 to repeat the audit undertaken. The Infection Prevention and Control Team are very grateful for the help and support Roma Medical has given.

Northern Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

I am writing to thank you for the service you have provided for us during the replacement of 76 commode chairs throughout my Trust

Although I don’t normally write to companies personally I feel in this instance Roy it was warranted. With the initial contact from us requesting a commode to trial to the final distribution of commode chairs to all ward areas over three separate hospital sites spanning 60 miles, I can only praise you for your helpfulness, professional approach and enthusiasm in ensuring a smooth service was achieved for NLAG NHS Trust over the 6 months we carried out this project together. I still smile when I think of three fellas polishing up the chrome work on 70 odd chairs so they glinted in the midday sun before the wards received them!

Finally the actual chairs we purchased from you in stainless steel from design to robustness I believe offer value for money and are very suitable in today’s climate when tackling the issues faced by all hospitals, from stringent infection control measures and cleaning routinely to the caring for more obese patient. Thank you again for the service to date, including the training already carried out and the future offer of continued commode audits to ensure that commodes used on the wards are in a suitable and safe condition for patient use and for many years to come.

Cambridge University Hospitals (NHS)

Cambridge University Hospitals has recently purchased new stock of patient commodes from Roma Medical Aids Ltd.

The process for delivery and distribution was planned in advance by the Trust team together with Lee LeBrocq, the Roma Medical representative. Both Lee and his colleague Tom worked closely with Trust staff during delivery and distribution and consequently we achieved a smooth, organised and efficient process. This would not have been possible without the Roma Medical team ensuring we received accurate delivery times and ensuring their presence on site when the delivery arrived.

We have received excellent service and support from the company thus far and Lee LeBrocq has been both helpful and reliable providing us with prompt and accurate information.

Hywel Dda Health Board (Carmarthen)

I can confirm that the Carmarthen Division of the Hywel Dda Health Board are very pleased with the romachair.

Feedback from the ward staff is that they are really easy to manoeuvre.
As the chair is smooth impervious and there are no nooks or crannies so easy to clean and great from an Infection Prevention and Control perspective

Wrightington Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust

Wrightington Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust has recently purchased a number of Romachair Hospital Commodes. These commodes are of a very high quality, easy to manoeuvre and can be purchased in various design applications, including height and width. From an Infection Prevention and Control perspective they are user friendly and easy to clean as all parts are removeable. The overseat holder is particularly useful as this prevents the overseat being left on the floor, on beds etc.

Roy Day, Area Sales Manager, quickly responds to any emails/phone calls and is willing to “pop” in at any time to give advice regarding the models most suitable for our patients. He has also been extremely helpful in helping to design bespoke footrests for our lower limb joint replacement patients.

Cwm Taf Local Health Board

We have recently trialled the Roma 47400CV. The results have been really positive.
